Hello all,

We are a small team of three MA students at the University of Sussex on the lookout for participants to feature in a short documentary film (10 mins) about barge life in the UK. We want to get to know the community of people sustaining this important part of our national heritage, and document the everyday processes of life on the canal. We're particularly intrigued by the personal motivations and aspirations of boat-goers; challenges experienced on the waterways; and what life on the canals can tell us about the state of society more broadly as well as the human condition.

Perhaps you are new to the scene and about to move onto your first boat or undertake your maiden voyage. Maybe you have lived on the waterways for years, and have witnessed their evolution over time. Perhaps you're in the process of planning your next cruise or renovating your boat. You may be a volunteer, engineer or canal artist. If so, we want to hear from you about your relationship with the waterways.

If you would be open to speaking with us and sharing your story, please comment on this post or email me at ah987@sussex.ac.uk and we can provide some more information. Our team is based in the South East, but we're very happy to hop on a train.

Anna
