Recent Survey & Blackened 1/6/2020 (Stanstead Abbotts Marina)For sale is our 54.6 ft Traditional Stern Narrowboat, Harmonia.
We have been a liveaboard couple full time for 4 years now and we are very excited to be purchasing our first house (on land) together although we are very sad to say goodbye to our lovely floating home.
Harmonia is structurally sound, maintained, and with a modernized interior.
Harmonia is spacious and the perfect size with optimum living space; the layout is open (instead of having built-in furniture) leaving a blank canvas for you to use the space in a way that suits you best. It’s also not too big so that, with practice, you can literally spin this boat in most places without traveling to a turning point, which will save you loads of time.
Harmonia benefits from recent blacking and complete survey (available on request) and full engine service (all executed in Stanstead Abbotts Marina).
Anodes were last fitted when the boat was out of the water in 2014 and has not needed them replaced since as suggested by the surveyor.
A full interior refurbishment was completed in 2015 and it’s been repainted in 2019.
The exterior of the cabin and roof were fully painted with undercoats and 4 top coats in 2015.
The exterior is practical and presentable for continuous cruising or permanent mooring and the interior is spacious, light and airy, fitted with modern domestic appliances that do not have the typical ‘ex-hire’ boat feel.
The boat is ready as an immediate home on the water with the following features.
The bow of the boat starts with a gas locker which was rebuilt by Sebastian from LSC Boat Maintenence and has enough room for two gas bottles so you’re never caught without hot water or a working stove and oven.
It has a spacious outside sitting area with internal bow hatch storage and removable cratch cover custom made by Nicki in Bow, East London.
In winter this makes for a great place to keep muddy shoes and jackets, keep wood dry, and adds extra security.
The cratch area leads into the kitchen which features a Villeroy and Bosch ceramic sink and draining board, an Indesit full-sized gas oven, and grill, under counter 12-volt fridge with freezer compartment, solid beech worktops, and cupboards, and a Morco on-demand gas water heater, 240v plugs, USB charging sockets & Oak floor throughout living and kitchen area.
In the living area is a beautiful made.com sofa which has been labeled by many boaters as ‘the comfiest couch I’ve ever sat on a boat’, is available with the boat.
A Morso Squirrel stove with back boiler and custom made flu keeps you properly warm in winters and has been serviced yearly since 2016 by Ship Shape Boat Services (the last service was November 2019).
It has a gravity-fed back boiler which keeps things nice and toasty in the bathroom & bedroom as well.
An Eco fan also comes with the boat and makes the world of difference distributing the heat from the stove.
The bathroom has a fully tiled floor & a full-sized domestic shower cubicle 800mmx900mm (one of the best shower pressures we’ve experienced in London).
A modern full-size sink mirror + storage cupboard. A compost toilet built by Colin Ives saves you from the cassette and pump out nightmares you’ve read about on Facebook’s ‘London Boaters’.
The bedroom has 3 windows one of which is a porthole & the other two are hatch windows; which open in three parts; allowing a beautiful breeze on hot summer nights.
Under the double bed, there’s large accessible storage for your seasonal clothing swaps.
The bedroom also includes a wardrobe and a built in set of three deep drawers and nook for books/various other bits and bobs.
This is not just a boat, it’s been our first home together and has proved a trusty part of an amazing adventure on London’s canal systems. We would love to see it passed on to someone who will appreciate her as much as we have!
