Diablo 4 patch 3.3.0 cuts Trash for Treasure Alchemist transmute costs by 30% on the PTR, making the displayed recipe costs the starting point for judging crafting value. Players comparing D4 Gold with their own activity rewards should also account for Greater Temper materials and Tyrael's Boons fees.

Check the discount before spending

Trash for Treasure changes the cost of converting resources at the Alchemist, but the practical saving depends on which parts of each recipe receive the reduction. Inspect the Forgotten Souls, Obducite, and Scrolls of Restoration paths separately; check both the gold fee and material inputs rather than assuming every displayed amount falls by the same percentage.

Forgotten Souls feed the crafting chain, while Obducite and Scrolls of Restoration are the inputs listed for Greater Temper. A lower gold fee helps, but it does not prove that the material requirement also fell. Record the displayed inputs and outputs for each recipe before confirming a transmute, then compare them with the amounts deducted afterward.

For a fair sell-versus-craft comparison, record the vendor value of a collected inventory of rare and legendary items before deciding what to do with it. You cannot sell and process the same items twice, so use the recorded value as the forgone gold when calculating the effective cost of the resulting materials.

Greater Temper is the material pressure point

Greater Temper upgrades a Tempered Affix into a Greater Affix at a listed cost of 30 Scrolls of Restoration and 1,000 Obducite per attempt. Treat those amounts as the starting cost, not proof that a desirable result is guaranteed or that no additional fee exists.

At the crafting station, inspect the Greater Temper recipe and its confirmation details before committing. Record your Scroll and Obducite totals, perform one attempt, and check the resulting affix and remaining balances. If the result is not what you wanted, compare the deduction with the listed cost before trying again.

The hidden cost is the value of the resources used to obtain those materials. A cheaper transmute can reduce the gold portion of an attempt without solving a shortage of inputs. Keep a separate record of any gold fee shown by Greater Temper itself, and do not assume a failed result returns the Scrolls.

Tyrael's Boons can erase a gold reserve

Tyrael's Boons has a stated PTR unassign fee of 5,000,000 gold per point. At that flat rate, removing all 132 points across four paths would cost 660,000,000 gold; this calculation assumes the fee stays constant for every point.

Open Tyrael's Boons, select an assigned point, and inspect the displayed unassign cost before confirming. Check the gold total immediately afterward, then repeat with a second assigned point only if you can afford it. The resulting balance should show whether each removal charged the stated amount and whether the fee changes with position.

Test partial removal one point at a time rather than committing to a full reset. Record each path separately and check where the returned point appears; do not assume that removing a point from one path changes allocations in another. Also check whether an unassigned point offers any paid action before risking gold on an unclear prompt.

Measure rewards against the crafting loop

War Plans Tactics has a Gold reward node with up to three points. Its actual payout at each rank needs to be measured: record the gold total before and after comparable completed activities at one, two, and three points, while accounting for other gold received during each run.

Marks of Wisdom have a stated PTR cap of 20. Watch the displayed total as it approaches that limit and check what happens to any additional Marks earned; the provided figures do not establish whether excess Marks are lost or held elsewhere. If Marks restrict a part of the loop, cheaper transmutes alone will not remove that constraint.

Run three recorded cycles: complete activities, record gear and Marks, sell items you do not need, and use the remaining resources for the relevant transmutes. After each Greater Temper attempt, log the gold change, materials spent, and result. Divide the observed gold gain by play time to estimate an hourly rate, and keep that estimate separate from the cost per attempt.

The stated PTR window runs from October 27 at 10 a.m. PDT to November 3 at 10 a.m. PST. Patch the PTR client, create a test character, and copy an eligible campaign-complete character if that option is available. Save screenshots and notes after each session, since resets can remove test characters and PTR values may change before release.

Before spending more resources, return to the Alchemist and write down the current inputs and gold fee for each relevant transmute. Compare that record with your activity earnings and the cost of Diablo IV Gold for sale, then set a spending limit before your next Greater Temper attempt.
